Duties and responsibilities:

- Electrical assembly of small high precision instruments

Electro-Optics Engineer (Rockville, MD)

The Ideal Candidate will be hired to work in the area of electro-optics, optical metrology and camera-based ranging systems. We are looking for a candidate who can support interdisciplinary projects in production with expertise in optical systems, optical sensing and metrology. This position requires working closely with the R&D Engineering and Production teams covering company’s current technologies related to metrology and measurement instruments. You must be a problem solver, have a “can-do” approach to every challenge and be able to communicate openly and effectively with a diverse group of professionals.

 

 

Technical Scope:

 

§ Complete electro-optical components testing and characterization, include but not limited to lasers, photodetectors, optical switches, optical modulators, and fiber optics

§ Build interferometry and triangulation based optical modules and systems for high accuracy ranging

§ Process both digital and analog signals from the system for debugging, optimization, quality control

§ Perform failure mode analysis and work with R&D and production engineers for product design improvements and optimize production procedures

§ Work on the product electrical and optical design, analysis and development of mechanical components accessories, systems and equipment

§ Define technical specs and tolerances

§ Confirm fabrication, assembly and installation processes

§ Perform basic metrology analysis, calibration and verification by collecting system information such as distance, angle, acceleration, and environmental data like temperature, humidity and other sensor signals

§ Mentor junior engineers through process, design, analysis, etc.

 

 

Requirements:

 

Advanced engineering degree, preferred with 1+ year industry experience in physics, high-speed electrical-optics:

§ Deep understanding of computer vision, depth camera, interferometry, and triangulation

Regional Sales Manager NA

Automated Precision Inc. is a leading manufacturer of laser measuring and metrology products. Our systems are used in a variety of industries including aerospace, shipbuilding, heavy equipment manufacturing, machine tool, energy and construction verticals. Our products and services offer precision measuring, non-contact surface scanning and the latest in machine tool calibration. We are currently seeking to add to the team Regional Sales Managers to cover all the regions in North America.

 

Role: The Regional Sales Manager is the lead for an account team in a defined area, responsible for technical and business requirements discovery, solution design/engineering/consulting, proposal preparation support and technical presentations to customers for API’s full suite of products and solutions.

 

Tasks:

· Collaborate with teams to understand customer requirements, to promote the sale of company products, and to provide end-to-end sales support.

Primary Duties:

Client Services Liaison

§ Create sales orders for service projects

Machinist - Rockville, MD

The Ideal candidate will: Set up, operate, or tend lathe and milling machines to turn, bore, thread, form, or face metal or plastic materials.

Responsibilities:

· Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometer and calipers

· Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachment, accessories, and materials onto machines

· Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work

· Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process

· Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lather, milling machines, shapers, or grinders

· Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations

· Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers

· Inspect samples work pieces to verify conformance with specifications, using instruments such as gauges, micrometer, and dial indicators

· Study blueprints, layouts or charts, and job orders for information on specifications and tooling instructions, and to determine material requirements and operational sequences

· Adjust machine controls and change tool settings in order to keep dimensions within specified tolerances

· Move controls to set cutting speeds and depths and feed rates, and to position tools in relation to work pieces

· Start lath or turning machines and observe operations to ensure that specifications are met

· Select cutting tools and tooling instructions, according to written specifications or knowledge of metal properties and shop mathematics

· Crank machines through cycles, stopping to adjust tool positions and machine controls to ensure specified timing, clearances, and tolerances

· Replace worn tools, and sharpen full cutting tools and dies using bench grinders or cutter-grinding machines

· Position, secure, and align cutting tools in tool holders on machines, using hand tools, and verify their positions with measuring instruments

Requirements:

The candidate will be responsible for providing substantial technical contributions in a complex, time-sensitive, and safety-conscious working environment. Position Summary:

· Own all aspects of electronics design from concept to production.

· Own custom PCB from start to finish: specification, architecture, circuit design, schematic, layout, prototype, validation, and manufacturing support.

· Draft and maintain engineering documentation.
