Junior Electrical Engineer (Rockville MD)

Junior Electrical Engineer

Automated Precision Inc. (API) is a world leader on coordinate measurement solutions. Leading the metrology industry through innovation, API products are used by many of the world’s leading automotive, aerospace, machine tool, and CMM manufacturers. At the corporate headquarters in Rockville, MD we are currently seeking to add a Junior Electrical Engineer.

Responsibilities

· Work with electrical design engineer to design, prototype, and test electrical systems.

· Perform circuit board testing and system integration testing.

· Debug and root cause analysis of electrical failures.

· Collaborate in the design, manufacturing, and electrical components preparation of products and projects.

· Build test fixture for engineering and production.

· Write and maintain proper documentation.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.

· General electrical foundation and knowledge.

· Experience in designing and prototyping board level power supplies (buck, boost, LDO, etc.).

· Experience in designing and prototyping digital communication buses (RS-232/485, SPI, I2C, etc.).

· Proficiency with basic EE tools (multi-meter, oscilloscope, etc.).

· Experience in using any PCB design tool suite (PADS Logic/PADS Layout, KiCAD etc.) is a plus.

Junior Mechanical Engineer (Rockville, MD)

Junior Mechanical Engineer

This role will be under the instruction of senior engineers to accomplish design, development and testing of all aspects of mechanical components, systems and equipment including new and existing high precision metrology products. The right candidate must have a good understanding and knowledge of mechanical design concepts, manufacturing techniques and materials including manufacturing processes and tolerances. He/she must be energetic and be able to handle occasional high pressure from tight work schedule.

Job Responsibility:

· Complete the product design, analysis and development of mechanical components, systems and equipment, including assembly and part drawings as well as other required documentation from design concept to manufacturing release, for high precision metrology products.

· Confirm fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.

· Organize and maintain product ME BoM.

· Generate product assembly procedure document for product release.

· Design and conduct testing on product mechanical functionality and accuracy.

· Additional duties as and when assigned.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering

· Experience and proficiency in mechanical modeling/drafting using the latest version of SolidWorks

· Experience in Mechanical design for Manufacturing

· Strong computer skills: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel

· Must have the ability to work on multiple projects; be able to analyze problems quickly and develop corrective actions.

Buyer (Rockville, MD)

Buyer

 

Role: Purchase raw or semi-finished materials or services required for manufacturing API products. Control the flow of all raw materials in and finished goods out of the organization.

 

Tasks:

Meet purchasing financial standards and budgets by monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.

Determine reorder point information and keeps information current in ERP.

Maintain inventory by monitoring minimum and maximum stock levels, adjust deliveries as needed.

Verify inventories by cycle and periodic counts.

Verify purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list, clarifying unclear items, and recommending alternatives. Maintain accurate Revision Control with all suppliers.

Complete purchasing cycle by verifying inventory and specifications of purchase requests, submitting and analyzing requests for quotes, negotiating prices, entering purchase orders, expediting deliveries.

Verify receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolve shipments in error with suppliers.

Recommend invoices for payment by verifying them against purchase orders.

Resolve accounting issues by researching problem invoices.

Issue inventory items by verifying demand with stock.

Maintain historical reference (purchasing and inventory database) of products and services by keeping electronic records of items and services purchased, prices, delivery and shipping costs, and product or service acceptability and coordinating enterprise standards with information system.

Dispose of scrap by negotiating terms of return, removal and sale.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

BS in an Engineering Related Discipline prefer

Intimate knowledge of optical and electronic components

Familiarity with fully integrated ERP, preferably Epicor.

Sales Administrative Assistant (Rockville, MD)

The Sales Administrative Assistant is responsible for the daily administration and support of the Sales and Executive Team. The right candidate has a keen eye for detail and is able to work well in a deadline driven environment with minimal supervision. Requires significant teamwork with Executive Management, Sales Managers and Global Managers.

 

Responsibilities.

· Provide data and reports to help the sales team.

· Keep track of sales targets, and consistently provide detailed updates on sales activities to Sales Management.

· Act as first line of contact for in-coming calls and visitors.

Laser Tracker Operator ( Metro Detroit MI Area)

Title: Laser Tracker Operator

Description: API’s Exact Laser Measurement (ELM) Division is seeking motivated young professionals for full-time measurement work in the Metro-Detroit area. Tracker Operators will take ELM equipment to customer sites and perform touch and scanning measurements, delivering fast, accurate results that keep customer manufacturing processes running smoothly. Tracker Operators will work in a variety of industrial environments, making inspections and verifications at various stages of the manufacturing process, from machine and factory component alignment to part inspection/verification to building scanning. Tracker Operators may also perform Laser Tracker Certification and other duties as directed out of our Plymouth, MI office. Tracker Operators will receive comprehensive in-house training on equipment setup/operation, software use, and best practices. Trainees will need to sign 1-year service commitment to ELM.

Requirements: Applicants must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and basic math skills. CAD Knowledge is preferred. Manufacturing Technician – Optical Assembly

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience with instruments containing optics, mechanics and electronics.

  • Be detailed oriented.

The Responsibilities Include:

  • Position, align, and adjust optical and mechanical parts to facilitate assembly.
  • Delivery of product on time to production schedule.
  • Ensure delivery of defect free product.
  • Clean parts, using cleaning solutions, air, and cloths.
  • Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, and reports in order to determine materials requirements and assembly instructions.
  • Mark and tag components so that stock inventory can be tracked and identified.
  • Position, align, and adjust optical and mechanical parts to facilitate assembly.
  • Pack finished sub-assemblies or assemblies and transport them to storage areas.
  • Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan and review work activities, and to resolve production problems.
  • Effectively communicate any supply chain issues that are affecting production. 

 

The Requirements Are:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1-2 years experience in optical mechanical assembly
  • Basic knowledge of using measuring instruments, machine tools and electronic meters.
    Experience with quality systems such as ISO, TQM, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Experience with assembly troubleshooting.
  • Must have a “can-do” approach to every challenge and be a problem solver. 
  • Must be able to articulate verbally and in writing to clarify and resolve problems on all products.

 

 

 

Duties and responsibilities:

1. Will be operating instruments with multiple computers at the same time. Must have basic computer skill for transferring data between multiple computers

2. Will assist service team in calibration, repair, rental equipment verification, and service equipment identification

3. Perform precision alignment of optical parts to 10 microns

4. Work closely with the API Global Diagnostics/Support team on calibration and repair related issues, as they arise

5. Responsible for daily production activities and work on different products as required

6. Responsible for assisting with shipping and receiving and moving items to the appropriate parties

7. Responsible for completing and assigning appropriate to-do’s in Project Management software

8. Report issues to management and provide feedback on proposed solutions

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and other requirements:

1. Must possess good computer skills and knowledge using of spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel)

Algorithm Development Engineer (Rockville, MD)

At the corporate headquarters in Rockville, MD we are currently seeking to add an Algorithm Development Engineer. The candidate will be hired to work on advanced algorithm development in Computer/Robot Vision supporting SDK and application software development.

Required:

· Strong C#, C++ software and programming skills and object-oriented analysis and design

· Strong background and experience with computer vision libraries: OpenCV, Dlib, Halcon

· Experience with Point Cloud libraries: PCL, Open3D

· Experience with parallel computing, such as GPU/CUDA programming

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Experience with Windows/Visual Studio/Azure/Git development environment

· Work with third party software teams to integrate the device and functionalities by assisting in plugin development through SDKs

· Develop scripts to test functionality of new modules for prototyping

Preferred:
