Service Engineer (Rockville, MD)
SERVICE ENGINEER
Automated Precision Inc. is a world leader in advanced metrology solutions for industry.
API products and services are used by leading automotive, aerospace, machine tool, and
CMM manufacturers. We are looking for entry level Service Engineers to join the API
team. If you are looking for a full-time position, with high growth potential, this may be

We are willing to train the right candidates to use our precision instruments and software
to support customers throughout North America.
We offer an excellent training program that begins in our Rockville, MD headquarters,
where you will learn the technical details of using our world class equipment and the best
practices associated with metrology equipment. You will be paired with best-in-class
Field Engineers to gain hands on experience. We have a comprehensive compensation

Minimum Required Experience/Skills
▪ Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related science.
▪ Ability to read design drawings and schematics.
▪ Clearance required; must be U.S. citizen.

Technical Scope:
§ Complete electro-optical components testing and characterization, include but not limited to lasers, photodetectors, optical switches, optical modulators, and fiber optics
§ Build interferometry and triangulation based optical modules and systems for high accuracy ranging
§ Process both digital and analog signals from the system for debugging, optimization, quality control
§ Perform failure mode analysis and work with R&D and production engineers for product design improvements and optimize production procedures
§ Work on the product electrical and optical design, analysis and development of mechanical components accessories, systems and equipment
§ Define technical specs and tolerances
§ Confirm fabrication, assembly and installation processes
§ Perform basic metrology analysis, calibration and verification by collecting system information such as distance, angle, acceleration, and environmental data like temperature, humidity and other sensor signals
§ Mentor junior engineers through process, design, analysis, etc.
Requirements:
Advanced engineering degree, preferred with 1+ year industry experience in physics, high-speed electrical-optics:
§ Deep understanding in electro-optical devices
§ Deep understanding of computer vision, depth camera, interferometry, and triangulation
§ Familiar with free space optics simulation tools like Zemax or Code V
§ Knowledge in electronics, PCBs, and understand the basics of electro-optical device control circuits
§ Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability (CAPA)
§ Good hands-on skills in system testing, failure analysis and design of experiments
§ Knowledge in numerical analysis
§ Knowledge in signal processing and its related coding (Python and Matlab)
§ Familiar with FMEA, IPQC
§ Knowledge in fiber optics and light detection is a plus
§ Demonstrated accomplishments in projects is a plus

Sales Engineer (Rockville, MD)
SALES ENGINEER
The Sales Engineer is part of the sales team in a defined area, responsible for technical
and business requirements discovery, solution design/engineering/consulting, proposal
preparation support and technical presentations to customers for API’s full suite of
products and solutions.
Key Responsibilities
▪ Develop specific sales plans by account in conjunction with the Regional Sales
Manager establishing annual sales goals and budgets for the territory.
▪ Become proficient using API equipment having the ability to demonstrate and promote
key features and technical selling points at customer locations.
▪ Become proficient in using API’s CRM and managing details of customer contacts
within the system.
▪ Develop a personal rapport with customers personnel and key decision makers in the
customers organization. Map out the buying paths for each customer providing
names, positions and contact information for each into CRM.
▪ Call prospective customers at commercial, industrial, or other establishments to
arrange visits and demonstrations.
▪ Provide day-to-day customer sales support in the respective territory. Provide
product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering
questions directly or where beyond technical capability, directing customer’s requests
to the respective Headquarters support personnel.
▪ Gain customers’ confidence by being able to explain and demonstrate how API
equipment can provide process cost reductions and offer productivity improvements
for their business.

Marketing Manager (Rockville, MD)

Key Responsibilities

Automated Precision Inc. is seeking a Calibration Technician to join our growing team in Newport News, VA. This position plays a critical role in supporting our high-precision metrology lab by performing in-house calibrations and assisting with the repair of laser-based measurement systems.
Key Responsibilities

· Receive and check in customer equipment for calibration

Software Engineer – Job Description
Automated Precision, Inc is seeking an engineer for software development to support state-of-the-art Laser Measurement Devices and Scanners. The candidate will be responsible for providing substantial technical contributions in a complex, time-sensitive, and safety-conscious working environment. The successful candidate should demonstrate an interest and aptitude for working effectively in dynamic, multi-disciplined teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain C#/.NET applications and C++ libraries.
- Implement robust interfaces between native C++ modules and managed C# components (e.g., via P/Invoke, C++/CLI, or interop layers).
- Debug, profile, and optimize performance across managed and native boundaries.
- Work with 3D visualization, CAD/geometry, data processing, and real-time hardware interfaces.
- Develop tools and GUIs in C#/.NET (WPF, WinUI, or MAUI) and/or C++/Qt.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
